Failure is not, and has never been, a guarantee to stop pushing for success. There are many opportunities that could be a step towards success. Such as the spirit of innovation and the zeal to be a problem-solver, leading to thinking outside the box to build a strong, formidable business that creates jobs for the citizenry.

Though every individual would want to succeed in the early stages of life, only a few are able to achieve that. The reason behind this piece is to enlighten real people across the globe on the various sectors one can succeed in as a business person.

To begin with, one needs to discover their interests and what they are passionate about. You have got to discover what really keeps you awake in the middle of the night. There are so many areas one can focus to be successful. And that could best fit your interests. These include agriculture and agribusiness, energy (renewable & power supply), manufacturing and industrialization, technology and innovation (tech startups), healthcare and pharmaceuticals, transportation, waste management, and recycling. Decide right now that it’s possible to find your passion and use this guidance to gain clarity.

Keep yourself abreast of your interests and passions. Without knowledge, effort is blind. Therefore, there is the need to acquire more knowledge about where your interest lies and gain insights from accomplished and influential figures. Some of them includes, Aliko Dangote (Nigeria), Strive Masiyiwa (Zimbabwe), Isabel dos Santos (Angola), and Johann Rupert (South Africa). These people discovered themselves and polished their passion.

Agriculture and agribusiness are huge and, as a matter of fact, the backbone of most countries. They are a major source of employment, food security, and trade for people. Agriculture boosts economic activities, hence being the backbone of many economies. There are a variety of crops grown due to the diverse and favorable climates. Crops such as cocoa, cashew, palm nut, coconut, sugarcane, rice, maize, and tomatoes are among the notable ones. Most farmers use traditional methods rather than modern technologies in farming. Over the past years, there has been a significant increase in food consumption. The leading contributing factor to this can be attributed to the increasing population. So, agriculture is a lucrative sector one can venture into, especially when done on a large scale.

Manufacturing and Industrialization. We need more industries to turn our raw materials into finished goods. Due to inadequate industries in underdeveloped and developing countries, most of their resources are exported to foreign countries without adding any value to them. This has made local farmers concentrate on available markets to sell their raw products. Setting up industries to process these raw materials is a life-changing opportunity for countries, as this will not only add value to the products but also create employment.

Waste management and recycling. Sanitation has been a major catastrophe in many places for some time now due to the rapid growth in population. Waste materials have been indiscriminately disposed of in schools, marketplaces, and communities. Sadly, there are few waste management companies. Recycling of waste materials is not a common practice for many people. Our refuse is either burnt or left to rot. Meanwhile, some of the used plastics can be used to produce other needful things. For instance, plastic waste can be used in making organic fertilizer for the same crops grown. Other waste products like metals are also common and are always left at the mercy of the weather, which could have been turned into steel, among others. Therefore, setting up a waste management organization will go a long way in changing the fortunes of such a personality.

Transportation: Movement of people has now become easier as compared to the past. And the demand for transportation is high. In Ghana, the notable transportation services include Shaxi, Uber, Bolt, Yango, and “trotro.” Even with these available, people still get stranded during certain periods without access to their services

But in all, remember that to succeed in any of these sectors, you should first identify the sectors to focus. After that, you should remain consistent and never give up.
